 //EDIT
Dare I not mention...

14.
Lord of the Rings are the most exeedingly gorgeous movies ever
15. The score to Lord of the Rings is the most beautiful music in history
16. Peter Jackson is the most outstanding director in cinema history

There; stay tuned...

Sam
//END EDIT//

*sigh*

January = School = less time for xanga

With that unvieling, I shall therefore hoist out the ol' soapbox in lieu of a four-paragraph essay:

1. Iran must be dealt with, most likely militarily
2. The U.S. must safeguard our good allies the Israelis
3. The Dems should be tried for war crimes
4. So should the majority of the media
5. The U.S. should legislate God's version of morality, which happens to be the only genuine form
6. Let the Patriot Act rock on
7. The Feds should never have stepped foot within education
8. Creationism should be taught in the classrooms
9. Abortion and sodomy should be outlawed
10. The First Amendment is horrendously abused in modern times
11. Jeff Gordon is the greatest driver in world history
12. NASCAR is the greatest sport in mankind's remembrance
13. I can't stand Greenday, Switchfoot, Munich, Brokeback Mountain, Ang Lee, or Steven Spielberg

I do believe that should cover the bases for this current moment of existence; with that, this dispensational premillenialist shall depart.  Stay tuned...

Sam

How dare you even mention Switchfoot in the same category as Brokeback Mountain? They've got nothing to do with each other!

Other than than, I agree. :p

Well...I was agreeing with everything until you got to #11...then I said, -wait a sec!....

Cartooning is awesome. I saw this movie called the Perfect Man. Anyway, there was a guy in it who was always cartooning and his stuff looked really cool. I'm more into lots of shading and making it perfect. I can't just slap twelve lines down and makes it look really cool. But if you can, that's great! Lol..do you ever read The Boondocks? (comic strip)

I would agree with you wholeheartedly except on your NASCAR stuff, I think it is kind of boring.....

People should only have a problem with the patriot act if they're doing something wrong.

I'm with you on 1-10, especially #s 4, 6, 7, and 10.  I'm not sure about #9 because though I know the implications, I don't know the actual definition of sodomy, i.e. man/man, man/woman, etc... (we'll save that for a different time, though.)  Even though #5 has been hashed and re-hashed in my brain countless times, I'm with you I think for the most part.  (how was that for the most non-committal statement ever?  haha)

#11 is debatable, although I do know him.  That's right, Sam, I know Jeff Gordon.  :)  He's a good guy and a great driver, but the best ever?  I don't know.

#12 is agreeable, but not whole-heartedly.

and I'm with Hedgehogman on #13 - Switchfoot & Brokeback Mountain are 2 entirely different kinds of media and should be treated as such.  But I can agree that you hate them both.  whatever.  :)

Interesting enough post.  I like non-debate ones every now and again.

I agree with you an all fronts.....but one. Stephin Spielberg. I still like him, although he did bash the Jews in Munich (which I went to go see, and did notice a chip on the shoulder against the Jews).

Yes, I do know Jeff. Casually.

My dad builds engines for little race cars called quarter midgets. Many NASCAR drivers' children race and in fact, one or two own tracks, so I've had the cause to speak to many on the phone and in person.

Among them, Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, Bobby LaBonte...and the list goes on.

So yes, I've had the opportunity to meet and get to know Mr. Gordon in a few instances. I know Mr. Martin and Mr. Labonte a little better and both are very upstanding guys. NASCAR, indeed, puts out many a good man.

:) No joke.

I discussed one of my issues with Christianity here (and in the comments you'll probably find more of my objections). You can find the God Simulator that I talked about here. I also laid out a second objection to Christianity here. Again, going through the comments will show you more about my position. And the next few posts after those ones consist of quotes about atheism that I found interesting (not necessarily true), and the comments following those posts will again give some more insight into the issues I take with Christianity.

May I take issue with point 13?

Yes, Green Day is......*insert bleeper here*  Buuuuuuuuut Switchfoot?  Hahaha, I know...you like your Beach Boys better....

Or....the Bravery.  "It was an honest mistaaaaaaaake."

*hopes to see bro at theater tonight!!!*  But even if I dont, have fun on your side of town at your movie house.*

And btw, Spielberg is awesome!  He certainly screwed up with Munich....but if PJ makes your list, than you cant diss Spielberg, either.  They BOTH (and p'aps Jackson more so) have rotten flicks in their history.

In fact, it was you who first told me of PJ's unfortunate  filmography....

Mm-hmm...

Some of PJ's past flicks are barf-baggers, but...

...Spielberg's Munich disses God's chosen people, something to which God doesn't promise a pretty resolution in the Bible...

LOL! Wow, bro...classic response--justifying the one by pointing out the "more" grievous moral deficincies of the other.

This is why you must judge Directors and Producers on the basis of their SKILL, not (always) their movie's content. However, despite grading based on the movie's production level, that doesnt mean that a movie is APPROPRIATE just because its production value is high. That is how I look at Munich and Brokeback mountain (without seeing them). Brilliantly filmed and produced, but morally objectionable to the point of not proper for viewing (thanks for pointing out Munich's bad-side, bro).

However, Spielberg's moral/political views do not AT ALL dissuade my opinion of his ability (or lack thereof) to make awesome, incredible movies.

Same view, have I, on Master PJ....however, he still doesnt come up to Steven's level of movie-making mastery.

Not quite, good dude of dudes--

PJ had some fun with radically sick humor (and I'm not condoning that by any stretch of the imagination), but...
SP spit in God's face.

There's a difference, good man.

And to the contrary, P. Jackson cleans Spielberg's clock...

I'm curious how exactly brokeback mountain is "morally objectionable" to the point where you won't watch it.

NQbass7:

Brokeback Mountain promotes a blatantly open agenda of homosexuality, which God condemns. I neither want to see a graphic male-male sex scene nor support the filth with my dollars.

"spit in God's face" is quite a claim. Portraying the Jews in an untrue light (whether intentional or no) does not mean that Spielberg SPIT in God's face. Showing the negative side of the Jews is also not actually wrong.... HATING the Jews is another matter...but seeing that Steven IS one, I doubt he...hates himself! LOL!

And as for PJ cleaning SS's clock...well...lets look at history. What has PJ done? Granted, 4 of the most incredible blockbuster flicks of ALL TIME!

HOWEVER, when that number (4) is cranked up to 20-PLUS, *then* come and tell me that PJ cleans Spielberg's clock. But really, you aren't justified in saying so UNTIL then.

In all things, much love, my good man!

Equating terrorists w/ Israelis and falsifying history which is slanted towards sadists and against God's chosen race = spitting in God's face

The 3 best films of all-time + another all-time-great-er = PJ cleans SP's clock

Yeah, dittos the love, dude

Ah. Well, I commend your moral fortitude, and only hope that you can find some entertainment, since you also avoid any movie which glorifies killing (which God condemns) like Lord of the Rings, any movie which glorifies stealing like Oceans Eleven, or any movie which glorifies sex like...well, most movies out there. But I suppose it's probably ok to watch those, since God only condemns those in the ten commandments.

Sarcasm aside, it seems pretty hypocritical to avoid a movie about gays when homosexuality is only a minor issue in the Bible, but to watch a movie that glorifies sex, violence, coveting, thievery, or anything else along those lines.

Whoa there--

God doesn't condemn killing--He condemns murder. God led a bunch o' wars in Scripture, as did He delegate the power of the sword (i.e., capital punishment, justice) to the government. Lord of the Rings? Aragorn and Co. aren't murdering; they're administering some serious justice and truth.

IMPORTANT:
Never equate just punishment with murder.

VERY IMPORTANT:
HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT, I REPEAT, IS NOT A MINOR ISSUE IN THE BIBLE--IT'S SODOMY, SOMETHING WHICH GOD CONDEMNS TO THE SUPERCALIFRAGILISTIC MAX.

No, but Sauron is murdering, and you wouldn't want to expose yourself to that kind of filth.

"HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT, I REPEAT, IS NOT A MINOR ISSUE IN THE BIBLE--IT'S SODOMY, SOMETHING WHICH GOD CONDEMNS TO THE SUPERCALIFRAGILISTIC MAX."
Is that why it's in the same section as the rule against eating pork?

Seriously though, show me some passages where it is condemned "TO THE SUPERCALIFRAGILISTIC MAX," to use your technical term.
